Henry Hamilton rowed at Kent School and Columbia University and did his early competitive sculling at Vesper Boat Club.He has been a successful racing sculler for many years. He has won more than 25 medals in the single in the Head of the Charles, including three first place performances. He stroked the National Champion Open Quad in 1970 and has won many Gold medals in World Masters' Championships. In a recent US Masters Nationals competition (2007), he won the lightweight and heavyweight single in his age category and a total of five Gold medals and one Silver. He finished second in Veterans Single in the 2009 Head of he Charles. In the past Henry coached at Columbia University, Craftsbury Sculling Center, Christiania Roklub in Norway, Community Rowing in Boston and the Maine Rowing Association.


The coaching staff are racing scullers experienced in training rigorously for top level masters racing. Principal coaches are Henry Hamilton, Judy Davis, Al Flanders and Jeff Schafer.

 Al and Judy are former students, having learned their sculling from Henry. Judy has three Head of the Charles victories in masters double. Al has won the Grand Master event in the Head of the Charles. He coached at UMass Amherst and at Harvard for a number of years. He is now a high school math teacher and directs rowing programs in Orleans and Harwich MA, on Cape Cod, in the summer. Jeff rowed at Syracuse and was also a crew coach in his younger years.He now works for Gentle Giant in Boston, and continues to be an active and successful racer.
